Contract won to build new Swisscom Business Park in Sion
Dietlikon 30 May 2014 – From 2015 Swisscom employees in Sion and some staff in Sierre will be moving into a new and modern workplace. The company currently employs around 500 people, including trainees, in the area, spread across several different buildings. In the interests of efficiency, all of these workers are to be brought together in a new Business Park, which will meet the very latest standards in terms of environmental impact, ergonomics and office technology, as well as fulfilling all of Swisscom's requirements. Architectural firm Suter Sauthier & Associés SA designed the complex for the general planning contractor Emch + Berger SA. The finished building will have five storeys as well as two basement floors, one of which will house a car park for 90 vehicles. The ground floor will have a cafeteria and a conference zone. The upper floors, which will provide around 440 workstations, have been designed as open plan so the floorspace can be divided up to suit individual needs. The new Business Park will also set standards for sustainability. It will be heated and cooled using a groundwater source heat pump, for example, while the roof will be fitted with a photovoltaic system. The whole building will meet the demanding Minergie-P-Eco Standard. Construction work begins in June 2014 and will last until autumn 2015, so workers should be able to move in at the end of 2015. Implenia General Contracting has overall responsibility for the realization of the project, which involves a total investment volume in the tens of millions of francs. The building work will be carried out by Implenia's Construction French-speaking Switzerland Business Unit as well as the company's foundation engineering specialists. Thanks to Implenia's model of group-wide cooperation, Swisscom benefits from fewer points of contact and the integrated know-how of the whole company.
