Ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new Spitallamm dam on the major construction site on the Grimsel

Several dozen guests celebrated the start of the actual construction of the wall, including employees of ARGE Grimsel, the KWO, representatives of authorities, engineering firms and the media, experts, as well as KWO Board of Directors President Barbara Egger-Jenzer and CEO Daniel Fischlin. Now the new dam, which is around 113 metres high, will be completed by 2025.

With the new replacement structure, the KWO is ensuring that it can continue to use the water from Lake Grimsel for electricity production in the long term and without restriction, thus supplying over one million people in Switzerland with electricity each year.
