Dear shareholders, investors and interested parties,
2020 was a year of challenge and transformation for Implenia. The COVID-19 pandemic had an adverse impact on our business, but in this challenging time our operating model and organisational structure proved to be very effective. We have also made unavoidable write-downs on projects begun before 2019.
Consequently, implementation of our strategy has been intensified and accelerated in the “Portfolio” and “Profitable Growth” areas. From now on, we are concentrating on offering a broad range of services in the core markets of Switzerland and Germany. In other markets, we offer tunnelling and related infrastructure projects. This helped us improve our risk profile in the 2020 financial year. Our order book increased in size and quality through the acquisition of new flagship projects in all divisions.
As we look to the future we will continue to focus on profitability and will always put our customers in the centre of all we do – especially when developing our own sustainable, innovative solutions. And so, working with and for people, we can create and build how we will live, work and move in future.
«As per our strategy, we are concentrating even more strongly on activities right at the very start of the construction process, such as consultancy, planning and engineering.»
«2020 was a challenging year. We are well positioned for 2021: The measures taken to make us more focused are having an effect and the project pipeline is sound.»

Competence and innovation
Implenia develops, plans and builds sustainable properties and infrastructures for future generations, and it will keep doing this even more efficiently – and more digitally – in future.
Well positioned for success after a chapter of significant challenges and transformation
Implenia recorded a stable operating performance in the 2020 financial year, in line with its ambitious objectives. But 2020 was still a challenging year, partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but especially because of a necessary acceleration in strategy implementation, which resulted in significant negative one-time effects. Now we are focused on our core competencies, the strategic measures we have implemented are having an effect. Implenia will return to sustainable profitable growth in 2021.
