Implenia and K.A. Aurstad have built the new E6 road between Vinstra and Sjoa. This was the second contract of a total of two contracts in the project E6 Ringebu–Otta, which is part of the main project E6 Biri–Otta.
The works included a roughly 16 km long express two-lane road with overtaking lanes, a 3.6 km long tunnel and a total of 28 constructions including amongst other 12 bridges on the E6, two tunnel portals and 16 over- and underpasses. The longest is Lågen bridge with 273 m. There are two crossings of the railway and two two-level road crossings. The contract also encompassed about 12 km of local roads and around 1.6 km of pedestrian and bicycle paths.
The contract is worth NOK 1.595 billion, making it the largest single road infrastructure contract awarded in Norway's history when it was signed. This road project has had great significance for the local community as well as for all travelers through the Gudbrand Valley and helps reduce traffic congestion significantly in the region’s villages and cities.
