Residential complex on Marchwitzastraße

Short description

Cost-effective and to the KfW 55 standard: Turnkey construction of a new residential complex in Berlin Marzahn – affordable living space for everyone

The project

degewo is a state-run housing association that offers apartments for broad segments of the population. This means budget-friendly renting on the basis of cost-effective new constructions. On Marchwitzastraße, renamed Eugen Roth Weg 4-10, at the southern tip of the Marzahn district, the Leipzig Buildings branch constructed a housing estate based on these principles. It consists of four free-standing tower blocks, each with 28 or 25 apartments spread over eight storeys.

Services in detail

Building 1 was also provided with a shared apartment for wheelchair users. The buildings were constructed as solid structures. The supporting structure consists of a solid stairwell core with a lift shaft and load-bearing outer walls that provide rigidity. All the apartments have their own balcony, while the four-room apartments also have an additional guest toilet. Every apartment has been made accessible for people with restricted mobility, with 28 of the residential units being wheelchair-accessible with floor-level showers. All rooms are equipped with underfloor heating and individual digital controls. A fibre-optic network supplies broadband internet to the apartments.

Sustainability

The building received funding for achieving the ‘KfW 55’ energy efficiency standard as part of the KfW initiative for energy-efficient construction.  Implenia provided the necessary evidence of the building’s energy efficiency to the KfW funding body.
