Multiple-occupancy passive house

Short description

Construction of the first multiple-occupancy passive house in Thuringia with twelve residential units.

The project

The four-storey residential building – comprising twelve individual residential units – constructed by the Jena Buildings branch in the eastern district of Jena is the first multiple-occupancy passive house in Thuringia. Its energy consumption is less than 15 kilowatt hours per square metre per year.  This project for jenawohnen GmbH was a further chapter in the long history of successful cooperation with the largest urban housing association.

The passive house features a ventilation system that uses waste heat from the living spaces to heat its rooms, walls with 30 cm of insulation, a solar thermal energy system on the roof, and triple-glazed windows filled with krypton gas.
