Mainbrücke Randersacker

Short description

The Main Bridge Randersacker spans the Main, a railway line, federal highway 13 and two state roads with a length of 540 m.

The project

In the course of the six-lane expansion of the A3 Frankfurt - Nuremberg motorway, a new building was necessary due to considerable damage to the Main Bridge near Würzburg-Randersacker.

Construction work on the new bridge began in July 2007. First of all, the superstructure for the carriageway towards Frankfurt was built next to the old bridge, and this was completed at the end of 2008.

After the traffic had been diverted over the new superstructure, the old bridge was demolished and the roadway in the direction of Würzburg was then built.

All superstructures are pre-stressed lengthways and crossways (lengthways: BBV L 15 and 19; crossways: BBV Lo4), and external EMR 17 tendons are also used.

The work was completed at the end of 2011.
