Hofgarten – shopping centre in Solingen

Short description

This modern retail experience at the heart of Solingen has everything from fashion to toys and gifts to electronics. It also boasts modern architecture inspired by the concept of ‘nature, industry and fashion’ and is flooded with natural light.

The project

The layout of the shopping centre is a complex polygon with a metal façade spanning its upper region. In its lower region, the building opens out onto the town square by way of the large windows adorning the fronts of the shops and food & beverage spaces. Full-height recesses in the façade accentuate the two main entrances on Graf-Wilhelm-Platz and Kölner Straße. The façade is studded with greenery, offering a gentle contrast to its otherwise virtually crystalline appearance. Façade Technology carried out the following work:

Sustainability

The shopping centre was awarded the DGNB Gold standard for green buildings.
