Varberg Tunneln FAS 2

The project comprises the two-lane extension of the Varberg-Hamra section, which is part of the Västkustbanan railway line connecting Göteborg with the southern Swedish city of Lund. As part of an Early Contractor Involvement contract (ECI con-tract), Implenia was initially awarded with the Preliminary Design (Phase 1) in June 2018, and subsequently with the Detailed Design and Construction (Phase 2) in September 2019.

Citylink Anneberg-Skanstull Tunnel

As the second of four phases of the so-called City Link Project, the Anneberg-Skanstull Tunnel serves to improve the power supply in the Greater Stockholm area. At a length of around 14 km and a diameter of 5 m, the tunnel is being driven about 50 - 100 m below the Swedish capital using a tunnel boring machine.

Rönnskär - Repository

Implenia Sweden is building a repository for process waste from Boliden's Rönnskär copper smelter in Skelleftehamn. Boliden has awarded Implenia the contract, which essentially consists of drilling and blasting a series of rock excavation chambers with high crack protection, located around 330 m below sea level below the smelter. The contract is the first won by Implenia Sverige AB for the mining industry. The project has a duration of 3 years, starting in January 2018.

Marieholm Tunnel

To ease the traffic situation in Gothenburg, Sweden, the new Marieholmstunnel was built. It is intended to facilitate the crossing of the Göta Älv river, which runs through the city center, and to reduce congestion at the neighboring Tingstadtunnel and the existing bridges.

E4 Förbifart, Johannelund tunnel

The bypass “Förbifart” Stockholm is a link between the north and south of the capital of Sweden and intends to relieve the traffic through the city. The 21 km long bypass motorway, of which approximately 17 km are underground in a depth of up to 70 m, is divided into six lots. With the 3.6 km long Johannelund tunnel (Lot FSE 403), Implenia won the contract for one of the first lots.

Lysekil LNG tank

In Lysekil on the west coast of Sweden, approx. 60 km north of Gothenburg, the currently largest LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) receiving terminal in Scandinavia was built on behalf of Skangass.

Arsta Bridge

Söderström tunnel

The Söderström tunnel as part of the Citybanan project is an approx. 300 meter long submerged tunnel that crosses under the Söderström and a branch of Lake Mälaren and is located between two rock tunnels.

The Citybanan connects the northern and the southern part of Stockholm subterranean with two additional rail tracks and doubles the capacity of the rail connection which exists since 1871. The wider area of Stockholm increases by 20.000 inhabitants every year. To offset the estimated traffic volume, the project Citybanan was realized.

East Side Combined Sewer Overflow ESCSO

As the largest of all Portland’s projects to reduce overflows into the Willamette River, the East Side Combined Sewer Overflow tunnel is designed to significantly reduce sewage and storm water overflows. To reduce risk exposure on the project the JV was awarded during the pre-design phase with a “Phase 1 pre-construction contract”. Within a 9 month period the JV optimized the design in collaboration with the client and its designer.
