Botniabanan

Short description

The bridges were longitudinally prestressed with BBV tendons of various sizes.

The project

The currently most modern and longest rail line in the country was built along the east coast in Sweden between Kramfors and Umea. This is where Botniabanan AB, founded for this purpose, built the Botnia Line together with Banverket. The route is 190 km long and designed for freight and passenger traffic. 25 km of tunnels and 140 bridges were built.

Bilfinger Construction built the bridge over the Umeälv river and the Stocke bridge. At 1,932 m, the Umeälv Bridge is the second longest railway bridge in Sweden. Both bridges were built with a telescopic arm every two weeks.
